Thanks to everyone who came out to see us in Shepherdstown and DC, we had a fantastic time at both shows. It was great to see family and old friends, and it was equally awesome meeting new people.
While in DC we spent some time mixing our new record at the Discovery Channel studios, we are very excited about these songs and can’t wait for everyone to hear them. We have made mention of it before, but the tracks are officially going on a split cassette tape with our good friends from WV, Prison Book Club. I just heard their side within the last week and I think it is going to be a solid release from a great pairing of friends. Their tracks are done, our tracks are being mastered this weekend, the artwork is almost finished, so we are getting ready to move forward. Once we contact the plant about doing the cassettes, we will have a better idea on release time, but it is coming!
This weekend we are busy once again. Tonight we are heading to the lovely city of Lynchburg VA to play at the White Hart with Maplewaves. This is Uncle Bengine’s first time in Lynchburg, although our old band, Mild Winter, played their a number of times. Check the facebook event from the last post for more details.
Saturday we are playing at Clementine for our first hometown show of 2012! We are opening for Prison Book Club, it is the last show of their two week tour, so come out and help celebrate one last night on the road. We are hoping to have a new song ready for the evening, so be on the look out.
The haze that surrounds the holiday season is starting to lift as we begin our embark on another year. 2011 wasn’t an awful year but it certainly had worn out it’s welcome, so we are excited to start fresh with 2012. We are currently finishing up recording for a split cassette with our good friends Prison Book Club. We should have everything ready to send off by mid winter, so we should have the tapes ready to roll by late winter/early spring. We will make sure to keep you up to date.

See you soon!

Love it or hate it, the holidays are rapidly approaching and we are celebrating this Thursday with our good friends Josh Moss and the Turlocks. The Turlocks are a new band from Harrisonburg that have a pretty sweet pedal steel player as well a line up that is filled to the brim with good friends of the Uncle Bengine gang. Along with celebrating the return of old friends, the show is also the two year anniversary of Funny / Not Funny Records. If you aren’t familar with F/NF, it is a Harrisonburg VA based record label that is run by Uncle Bengine frontman, Ben Schlabach, and Harper Holsinger (tons of bands, tons of show promotion, tons of awesome). F/NF has 14 releases under their belt and currently has more in the works. Check our their website!
The show starts around 9pm. There will be holiday drink specials, free food, and distro tables from Funny / Not Funny Records and Harrisonburg’s new record store, Wonder Records. Come down early and stay late…also I am pretty sure it is free cab season so make sure to take advantage of a safe ride home!
Farmers Market Video
Harrisonburg Farmer’s Market Promo from Josh Lee on Vimeo.
Check out this sweet new commercial for the downtown Farmers Market that was created by JMU students, Steven Chi and Josh Lee. We are very honored that they used our song, “College Home” for the background music. Take a look at the video, share it with your friends, and most importantly make sure to go check out the Harrisonburg Farmers Market.
December brings holidays, the end of the year and a handful of things for Uncle Bengine. This Friday we are playing a house show in Harrisonburg, if you are interested in coming hit up our email for the details. We are spending the rest of the weekend in Northern Virginia recording for our next release (more details soon). We are also putting together a Holiday Show for the week before Christmas, so stay tuned for that info.
Hope to see you soon!

We had a fantastic time at the Artful Dodger on Friday thanks to everyone who came out. Special thanks to Paul and Jeff for setting up the evening and being a big part of the Harrisonburg Downtown Art scene.
Today is the big day, Pre-Orders are finished and mailed, the CD is on itunes and up at CD Baby. It should be in most other online stores later this week. If you have a gift card to any retailer that you don’t want, it might be a good excuse to check out the new Uncle Bengine CD. If you are wondering what the best ways/cheapest ways to get the tracks/CD, we would suggest downloading it from Bandcamp, it is $5.00 or name your own price, so you can pay $5.00 or $500.00. The best places to buy the CD itself would be at Bandcamp or at our online store they come straight from us with a thank you note and timely shipping.
This Friday at the Artful Dodger Jeff Guinn is having an Art Opening and we are releasing our new CD, with artwork by Jeff Guinn himself. Make plans to come drink some tall boys, enjoy some good food, check out some awesome art and help us celebrate the release of our new CD “Comes in Nines”. We will try and remind you as the week goes on, but in the mean time, go like us on facebook and stream the entire album. Our Facebook Page!

Comes in Nines - CD | Pre-Order Here or Here
We are very excited to announce the release of our first full length album “Comes in Nines.” We started recorded the tracks in late February, finishing them up in the late Spring, since then we have been hard at work with some of our close friends getting the mastering and artwork just right, and we can legitimately say we are very happy with how this project turned out. The official release date is November 8th, that said, we have copies of the CD in our hands so there will not be any delays on that date. Currently you can Pre-Order at our store and on bandcamp. We are finalizing the details of getting the tracks on itunes and other such download sites, they should be up by November 8th.
Exclusive Stream of “Comes in Nines”
If you would like to hear “Comes in Nines” before the release date, you can stream the whole album at our facebook page. While you are there, make sure to hit “like” or “add’ or whatever it is you do with facebook, having new friends makes us feel a lot better about ourselves.
CD Release show in Harrisonburg

November 4th - Jeff Guinn Art Opening / Uncle Bengine CD Release
Our good friend and designer/layout extraordinaire Jeff Guinn is hosting an art opening at the Artful Dodger, since he did the artwork for the new CD, we thought it would be a great setting to host our Release Show. He is an amazing artist, so make sure to come out and support his work, along with our new CD. You can check out his artwork here.
We are excited to be apart of a wonderful show tonight at the Blue Nile! Naked Gods a fantastic band from NC is coming through in support of their new CD “No Jams” which contrary to the title is full of great jams start to finish. In support of the Naked Gods are our Charlottesville friends the Invisible Hand and NC based Bronzed Chorus. Make sure to come out and support some great out of town bands.
In other news, I just got off the phone with the CD plant and the CDs are ready, so we will have them for tonight’s show! The official release date is November 1st, but if would like one early tonight is your lucky night! If you are unable to make it to the show, we will have them for sale in our store, and a few other places online in the coming weeks. We are beyond excited about this CD, and can’t wait to show everyone what we have been sitting on for the past 4 or 5 months!
See you tonight!
I just finished listening to the Master CD of “Comes in Nines” and now I am about to hop in the car, drive to Northern Virginia and drop it off at the plant. Over the next week we are going to start posting tracks, and giving more details on the release date, release party in Harrisonburg, and hopefully finalize some up coming out of town shows. If you would like us to play your house, bar, coffee shop, back porch, show, or event, just let us know and we would love to work out a time to visit!
This Sunday we have our first show of the Fall. It is going to take place at the JMU Arboretum, starting around 3pm. Here is the facebook event! Come say hello, we are excited to play a show again after being off for 2 months.

If you haven’t noticed from the lack of updates since August, we have been busy with family, friends and weddings for the past month or so but we are getting ready to start playing again. We have two shows coming up in October and a handful in the works for November. The CD that we have mentioned a few times before, is nearing completion, soon we will have more details, artwork, mp3s and all those fun things that go along with a new release.
More on shows and the new CD later this week!
